B.M.S. Evening College of Arts and Commerce (BMSCEAC) was established in the year 2013 under the aegis of BMS Educational Trust. Dr. B. S. Ragini Narayan, Chairperson of BMS College for Women and BMS College of Law, following the path of the founders Dharma Prakasha Rajakarya Prasaktha Late B. M. Srinivasaiah, doyen of higher education and his son Late B. S. Narayan, a great visionary, laid the foundation for this college to cater to the needs of the aspiring graduates who want to pursue higher education in the co-education evening stream.

History and Legacy

Bengaluru City University traces its legacy to Central College, one of the oldest higher education institutions in Bengaluru with roots dating back to 1858. With over a century of academic tradition, BCU carries forward this heritage as a modern affiliating university focused on research, inclusivity and industry-aligned learning.

In 2025, the Government of Karnataka renamed the institution Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University in honour of the former Prime Minister of India, reflecting a new chapter in its institutional identity.
